thisismoney.co.uk is a personal finance editorial site established in 1998 and redesigned in December 2004. It has over 300,000 unique users a month and over 100,000 registered users. In 2003 thisismoney.co.uk won the AOP (Association of Online Publishers) Consumer Website of the Year Award.
I was the lead designer and developer on the site up to 2004, seeing it through it's first redesign, after six years of publication.
The re-design needed to bring five years of internet development to the site, whilst not scaring off the 'below savvy' users. The brief was to lower the average age of user, and increase page impressions, repeat visitors and advertising space.
The project was designed, built and useability tested in just over four months. I was part of the three man design team which led the build of this project and worked on every major stage of the design process. The relaunch was nominated for many awards and proved very popular with the users.
Some of my personal achievements for the re-design project were:
- Co-coordinating the integration of the third party financial data partners
- Message boards and registration
- Overseeing the work of freelance coders
